2024/08: Honored that my JMIR paper was selected to be featured on JMIR Publications 2024 Summer Campaign!
2024/07: Wrapped up our study in LA on deploying wearables for urban safety.
2024/06: Honored to have been selected to be part of the 2024 CSST Summer Research Institute in Laguna Beach, CA. Had a great time connecting with amazing senior researchers/mentors in the HCI field working in Sociotechnical Systems!
2024/05: My JMIR paper was finally published and available to read! Ecstatic to have been invited to appear on CBS Chicago to talk about the findings in my work. Happy this work was received well and garnered lots of press regionally and internationally.
2024/04: Attended ASPLOS 2024 to present my workshop paper at the Workshop on Hot Topics in Ethical Computer Systems in San Diego, CA.
2024/01: Passed my proposal and officially ABD! Thank you to my committee members : Josiah Hester, Maia Jacobs, Jennifer Mankoff, and Stephen Xia for their valuable feedback. My JMIR paper was also accepted!
2023/10: Attended UbiComp 2023 in Cancun Mexico to present my work A Design Framework For Equitable Wearables at the Doctoral Colloquium. Our paper SmokeMon was presented by Nabil Alshurafa at the conference. Also attended CSCW 2023 in Minneapolis for the Surfacing Structural Barriers to Community-Collaborative Approaches in Human Computer Interaction Workshop.
2023/08: Honored to have been selected to attend the NextProf Nexus Workshop at Georgia Tech!
2023/07: Northwestern's Office of Diversity and Inclusion featured my ongoing work on building equitable wearables for the Change Maker's series.
2023/06: Honored to have been selected by Northwestern's HCI+D department to attend and present my work on Safety Wearables at the HCIC consortium in Lake Delevan, WI!
2023/04: Excited to attend CHI 2023 in Hamburg, Germany to present my EquityWare paper!
2023/02: Attending the Preparing Future Faculty of Color conference at Northern Illinois University
2023/01: My EquityWare paper was accepted to CHI 2023! Super happy I was able to push this paper despite tremendous opposition.
2023/01: Our paper SmokeMon was accepted to IMWUT/UbiComp. Building this wearable took three years to build, super happy this work garnered media attention world wide! Check out the press page for selected media coverage.
2023/01: My workshop paper on our AR mobile application Privacy Plumber, aimed to expose privacy leaks in IoT devices was accepted to USEC 2023. Biggest thanks to Danny Huang for presenting this work in San Diego, CA.
2022/12: Officially Joined the NU Path Lab to be co-advised by Maia Jacobs. Thank you Maia!
2022/10: Attending the Lambert Conference on the Future of Human-Computer Interaction + Design. Presented my poster on co-designing wearables with and for low-income communities.

2022/07: I was awarded the Social Justice Mini Grant by Northwestern's Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Thank you for the support!
2022/03: Received my Masters in Computer Engineering! I am the first in my family to ever receive a graduate degree and became the first Latina in Northwestern History to receive an M.S. in Computer Engineering.
2021/04: Honored to have been selected to attended the CRA Grad Woman Cohort . Took place via Zoom as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
2021/02: Honored to have been selected to moderate Microsoft's Research panel on Research as a STEM Career. I got to talk with amazing researchers Jaime Teevan, Haiyan Zhang, and Mar Gonzales Franco about their career's as researchers at Microsoft Research. Check out our talk here!

2019/10: I was awarded an NSF travel grant to attend the SenSys in New York City!
2019/09: I started my Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at Northwestern University! Excited to work with my advisor, Josiah Hester, to do research in health wearables and battery-less computing :)
2019/06: Graduated from the University of California, Riverside with my B.S. in Electrical Engineering! Excited to start my PhD in the fall of 2019.
2019/02: Awarded a GEM Ph.D. Fellowship from the National Gem Consortium
2019/01: Was accepted to Northwestern's Computer Engineering Ph.D. program!
